We are simple folk who accidentally got involved in domain names. It all started when on a trip to an African Safari.
We were surprised to find that our tour guide that had arrived an hour late to pick us at the Airport, ran his business through emails and text messages sent to him by a UK based Safari company operating a Tours and Safaris website.
Shockingly we discovered that the same UK company that we had purchased our Safari from, had never been to Africa, but thru their website, they took online bookings, kept a large portion of the booking fees and sent the rest to others in Africa like our tour guide and yet did the real work of delivering the final tours and safaris.
Seeing how unfair that was, on our return home from Africa, we sought a suitable tours and safaris domain name and created a free website for our tour guide. Now with his own website his business soared beyond his believe. Others like him on seeing this, also sought our service.
Very soon we were creating and selling Africa centric, tours and travel websites with associated domain names.
It was this demand from Africa for tourism websites and associated domain names, that led us into this world of domaining .
We are NOT professional domain brokers, just the mom and pop type who dabble in the art of domaining in our part time as a past time.
We had tried domaining thru commercial domain markets like SEDO and Godaddy etc. But were frustrated with the very high brokerage fees. And then there were the numerous over priced junk domain names on these commercial domain markets, such that a genuine domain buyer could not easily find our domain listings as they would first have to go through thousands of junk and outrageously priced domains before reaching ours, if ever they reached to them at all.
We soon realized that over 95% of domains on comercial domain markets are parked with no website at all. Google and other search engines hardly listed these domain names on searches because they contained no content . There fore making it harder for real domain buyers to find our listing.
There was little benefit continuing to use commercial domain marketplaces and apart from the high broker fees, we had sold only a few domains thru them.
We then decided to use our own website with our own platform which quickly started appearing on Search engines. It became apparent that we had made a better choice when we started selling more domain names with our own platform.
And that is how Domains.mom came to be. If you don't like a domain's price, please don't be shy, feel free to make offers, we do not refuse any reasonable offers.
